	&lt;p&gt;Summertime marks the high season for exceptional maritime art at &lt;span class=&quot;caps&quot;&gt;COCO VIVO&lt;/span&gt;&amp;#8217;s summer gallery in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.  The gallery is entrenched in the classic tradition of Maine&amp;#8217;s maritime art with the accomplished local and national artist it represents.  Featured in the 2009 season is coastal plein iar artist Roger Milinowski, who travels along the alluring eastern seaboard capturing rural and coastal images that bring us back to a quieter, more nostalgic time and place.&lt;/p&gt;


	&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;February 1-28, 2009&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class=&quot;caps&quot;&gt;ART SHOW AND SALE&lt;/span&gt;:  &lt;em&gt;BILLIS&lt;/em&gt; , A Collection of Oil Paintings by Mitch Billis&lt;br /&gt;Opening:  Friday, February 6, 2009, 4-7 PM.  &lt;span class=&quot;caps&quot;&gt;COCO VIVO&lt;/span&gt; of downtown Charleston, SC, is proud to announce &lt;em&gt;BILLIS&lt;/em&gt;, an exhibition of new paintings featuring the original oils of American artist Mitch Billis.  The special showing of romantic Southern landscapes will open with an evening gallery reception for collectors and clients on March 6, 2009, at 25 Broad Street.  The exhibition show will be displayed throughout the month of March.&lt;br /&gt;Trained as a mathematician, Mitch Billis earned a PhD in mathematics and taught at the university level for eleven years.  While at Montana State University, he attended a watercolor workshop, discovered his life goal, and a year later resigned his tenured position to pursue painting full time.  He became a single parent two years later and moved his family to Maine, where he still resides.  Billis is a founding member of The Northwest Rendezvous Group; he is a prize winning artist in national and international shows.  Mitch has feature articles in Southwest Art, Art of the West  and Clarkson College Alumni Magazine.  Mitch has also been invited to participate in numerous museum shows.  Billis continues to travel throughout the world, painting beautiful landscapes of the places he loves.  Mitch is collected by individuals and corporations throughout the world.  &lt;br /&gt;The Southern scenes of the &lt;em&gt;BILLIS&lt;/em&gt; show evoke sensuous and romantic feelings.  Mitch&amp;#8217;s use of shadows, soft painting edges and an extraordinary color palette enable him to create masterpieces of art.  The Southern Victorian home, the lush foliage, and shadows cast by live oaks capture a part of our Southern heritage and beauty.  &lt;span class=&quot;caps&quot;&gt;COCO VIVO&lt;/span&gt;&amp;#8217;s new exhibition of paintings depicts historical homes in a Southern setting created by one of America&amp;#8217;s master painters.&lt;/p&gt;

Artist Tony van Hasselt is one of the most celebrated watercolorists working today.  His paintings are all done plein air, hence the &lt;em&gt;studio without walls&lt;/em&gt; title.  He is a pioneer of the traveling painting holidays workshops and author of numerous instructional books and dvds.  Tony still travels all over the world teaching workshops to aspiring artists.  During this year&amp;#8217;s Spoleto Festival, Tony taught a three-day workshop here in the Holy City.  van Hasselt&amp;#8217;s art is collected by numerous individuals in both the private and corporate world and is also included in the masterworks Bermudian Collection of Bermuda.&lt;/p&gt;
